A thrilling NBA Cup Group game took place on November 14, 2025, between the Orlando Magic and the Brooklyn Nets, with the Magic emerging victorious by a score of 105-98. This win was a significant boost for Orlando, securing their second victory in the group stage, while the Nets suffered their second loss, leaving them with a tough road ahead.
The game was a tale of two halves, with the Nets dominating the first half, leading by as much as 16 points. However, a remarkable turnaround in the second half saw the Magic outscore their opponents 25-5 in an eight-minute stretch, taking control of the game.
Franz Wagner, with his 25 points, and Tristan da Silva, who added 22 points and nine rebounds, were the stars for Orlando. Da Silva’s performance was even more impressive considering it was his first start of the season, filling in for the injured Paolo Banchero.
But here’s where it gets controversial: with just over two minutes remaining, the Nets held a four-point lead, thanks to a basket from Nic Claxton. However, Wagner and da Silva combined for three crucial three-pointers, turning the game on its head. The Nets, despite having Michael Porter Jr. put up an impressive 24 points and 11 rebounds, couldn’t find the basket again, and the Magic held them scoreless for the remainder of the game.
Desmond Bane and Jalen Suggs also contributed significantly for Orlando, with Bane scoring nine of his 19 points in the fourth quarter, and Suggs finishing with a well-rounded stat line of 14 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
And this is the part most people miss: the Nets’ downfall can be partly attributed to their poor three-point shooting in the second half. After making six of their first 11 attempts from beyond the arc, they managed only four more makes out of 29 attempts, a stark contrast to their hot start.
The Nets will look to bounce back when they face the Washington Wizards on Sunday, while the Magic travel to Houston to take on the Rockets.
So, what do you think? Was the Magic’s comeback a result of their own brilliance or the Nets’ collapse? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
