While initially seen as a simple mindless superhero action sequence, the series' themes and characters laid the foundation for future Marvel storytelling. The comics series, featuring Jim Shooter, became a massive hit, with a sequel miniseries Secret Wars II (written by Shooter and drawn by Al Milgrom) following in 1985. This second installment introduced a new dimension to the story, where the Beyonder, a space deity from beyond time, sought knowledge and experience. However, his mission shifted to focus on studying human beings rather than just fighting. In Secret Wars II, the Beyonder returned, now with his powers removed and his focus placed on exploring life through human subjects. A notable moment involved Spider-Man teaching the Beyond how to use a toilet, a scene that later became controversial. Despite this, the movie Avengers: Secret Wars (2027) is set to omit the potty scene, which was originally featured in Secret Wars II. The decision to skip this particular storyline highlights a shift in narrative direction. If Marvel Studios includes the potty scene, it would earn praise for its creativity. But the question remains: does this mean the story will lose its original charm?
